Zanele Mbeki leads top women's forum meet

24 Aug 2010

The programme, which ends tomorrow, is organised by the International Women's Forum South Africa (IWFSA). It was initiated by Mbeki in 2000 to educate, empower and mentor the next generation of women leaders in South Africa.

IWFSA boasts top women leaders from all disciplines and professions such as arts, banking, education, medicine, technology, law and journalism.

IWFSA president Namane Magau said the round-table programme would offer local women an opportunity to network and learn from senior international women leaders in business, government and academia.

She said the programme was part of the forums held globally by the International Women's Forum, which was established 30 years ago to create networking opportunities for women in leadership.

IWFSA is affiliated to IWF.

IWF president Allyson Maynard Gibson, who also heads Opposition Business in the Senate of The Bahamas, will facilitate the workshops.

The women will discuss various topics such as the future of women's leadership in SA and how women leaders should think globally while managing locally.

"Together, we are advancing women's leadership across careers, cultures, and continents," Gibson said.
