Women'sNet At The Feminist Tech Exchange

6 Nov 2008

Women'sNet is a partner in the Feminist Tech Exchange (FTX) taking place just before the AWID forum.  The purpose of the FTX will be to give women's rights movements an understanding of how information communication technologies (ICTs) can be used to advocate women's rights.

The workshop is planned to take place for three days, 10-12 November, and consists of five training tracks, plenary discussions and skills sharing activities.  Women'sNet and Association for Progressive Communication Women (APCWN) will be managing the digital storytelling track.

Digital stories are a way of using multimedia technology (words, pictures, sound and video) to produce a five minute movie.  They have emerged as a very powerful medium for spreading advocacy messages that are grounded in women's realities.
