New CEO for Youth Development Agency
10 Jun 2009
NYDA chairman Andile Lungisa said former Umsobomvu Youth Fund chief executive officer Malose Kekana was appointed to oversee the process of transition following the merger of the Fund with the National Youth Commission in January.
"The board resolved to retain Mr Kekana to assist with the merger process as well as assist with the orientation and hand-over until we appoint his predecessor.
"Mr Kekana will oversee the major activities including the new agency operations, NYDA launch and planning for the integration of Provincial Youth Commissions among others," Lungisa said.
This was expected to be completed by the end of September 2009 or soon thereafter.
The NYDA was established to create and promote co-ordination in youth development issues with part of its functions being to facilitate the roll-out of youth economic participation.
It is also tasked with formulating policy, research and development, providing youth advisory and information services, and access to funding.
