Today is the 11th day of the 16 days of Activism, Story #11 " Men need to get together and talk about issues of violence against women ..." says Lethabo Dibetso of Media Monitoring Africa. Today also marks the International Volunteer Day for Social and Economic Development which was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly through Resolution A/RES/40/212 on 17 December 1985. Since then, governments, the UN system and civil society organisations have successfully joined volunteers around the world to celebrate the Day on 5 December.
