Treatment Action Campaign: Grant Proposal Writer / Fundraiser
The Treatment Action Campaign (TAC) is an activist organisation that campaigns for treatment for people living with HIV and for the reduction of new HIV infections.
TAC engages in monitoring, advocacy and campaigning within the health system to ensure that every person with HIV has access to quality comprehensive prevention, treatment, care and support services to live a healthy life.
TAC seeks to appoint a Grant Proposal Writer/Fundraiser, based at its National Office in Cape Town, with requirement to travel within South Africa.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct research into the nature of donor funding in South Africa and abroad;
- Constantly Source and research local (local authorities, government agencies, multilateral and bilateral agencies) and international (and foreign agencies) forms of fundraising in line with the TAC objectives;
- Based on the knowledge gained through various forms of research, raise at least 50% of the annual budget;
- Build and maintain solid relationships with current donors/funders;
- Together with the Resource Mobilisation team do Financial planning monitoring and budgeting exercises?
- Fully understand the projects of the TAC and participate in strategic planning sessions, visits districts to observe implementation of strategic objectives;
- Based on the above, able to write a realistic funding concept, can interpret funding requirements;
- Monitor and Support Project/programme management, ensuring alignment of grant agreements to programme implementation, and what is required for reporting and in turn, ensuring districts take ownership;
- Reporting, scheduling, constantly raising awareness, and ensuring tight compliance with all donor proposals;
- Update and maintain a donor database.
Requirements:
- Tertiary qualification majoring either: creative writing, marketing, journalism and social sciences;
- Minimum of four years of proven fundraising or donor grant proposal writing;
- Speaking and written communications skills;
- Finance and project management skills;
- Vast knowledge of HIV/AIDS and TB, NSP, NHI and other relevant health legislation;
- Proficient research and writing ability;
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation and networking skills;
- Valid driver’s licence.
