Sonke Gender Justice Network: Deputy Director - Operations
Sonke Gender Justice Network is a NGO that works across Africa to strengthen government, civil society and citizen capacity to support men and boys to take action to promote gender equality, prevent domestic and sexual violence, and reduce the spread and impact of HIV and AIDS.
Sonke Gender Justice seeks to appoint a Deputy Director - Operations, based in Cape Town.
S/he will provide training and guidance to partner organisations to ensure consistent, effective, and timely project finance administration and reporting.
S/he will support the Executive Director and will consulte with the Senior Management Team.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic management;
- Coordination of internal and external audits;
- Budgeting and financial monitoring and reporting;
- Procurement, human resources and oversight of subcontracts and sub-agreement procedures;
- Standard operating procedures and operations systems;
- Risk and compliance management, coordination with the board of directors, office management and supervision of operations and administrative staff in other Sonke offices.
Requirements:
- Tertiary diplomas in related areas, a Master’s degree will be preferred;
- Minimum of ten years equivalent experience in a similar capacity;
- Evidence of progressive growth with increasing responsibility in prior employment;
- Initiative and ability to take on and complete projects;
- Experience working with and interacting with donors;
- Leadership on projects, preferably those related to organisational change, growth or expansion;
- Budgeting and financial management skills;
- Proposal and report writing skills;
- Ability to prepare and give trainings;
- HR experience or ability to be able to manage HR functions;
- Presentations skills;
- Supervisory experience;
- Ability to conduct regular field visits within South Africa and the SADC region.
This position requires full-time residence in Cape Town.

Salary: R500 000 - R600 000 per annum, total cost to company.
