People Opposing Women Abuse (POWA) seeks to employ individuals with relevant qualifications and who have experience dealing with abused women to be their Social Workers. 
Job Description: 

People Opposing Women Abuse (POWA) was established in 1979 as a response to the high levels of violence against women experienced in the community. POWA aims to empower women through the process of counselling, education, advocacy and lobbying.

POWA seeks to appoint Social Workers in Sebokeng, Vosloorus, Tembisa, Berea and Soweto.

Requirements:

  • BA Social Work (Hons) degree;
  • Minimum of two years experience in the gender-based violence sector;
  • Ability to practice all three social work intervention skills (individual, group counselling and community development);
  • Registered with SACSSP;
  • Experience in working with abused women;
  • Good public speaking and interpersonal skills;
  • Computer literate;
  • Report writing skills;
  • Innovative and creative;
  • Ability to speak at least two South African indigenous languages;
  • Valid code 08 driver's license.
