Job Description: 
The Extra-Mural Education Project (EMEP) is an independent development agency whose primary goal is the holistic development of the school as a dynamic, well-managed hub of good quality lifelong learning, art, recreation, environmental and support services for its learners, teachers, support staff, parents and local community. EMEP invites applications from suitably qualified individuals for the position of Research Assistant to be based in Cape Town.

Responsibilities

* Conducting primary research through interviews, surveys, focus groups, etc.
* Gathering secondary research through literature reviews
* Gathering primary data from the field
* Data capturing in databases
* Maintaining accurate, electronic and manual files and records
* Track and monitor progress of projects
* Assist in drafting research briefs
* Assist the Research Coordinator in preparing materials for communications: reports, presentations, posters and publications

Requirements

* Possess an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline
* Professional / research experience in the field of primary and secondary school education
* Has excellent research skills (i.e. research methodologies, sampling procedures and data collection techniques)
* Is able to interpret and disseminate information
* Computer literate in MS Office with some layout ability a definite advantage
* Able to work as part of a team while also using his/her own initiative
* Strong time-management abilities
* Driver's licence and willing to use his/her own transport
