RAPCAN: Project Coordinator
RAPCAN (Resources Aimed at the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect) is a child protection organisation, based in Cape Town, which focuses on issues relating to child victimisation and offending. RAPCAN’s work includes direct services to children and families, the provision of training to professionals and non-professionals that work with children, the development and dissemination of resource materials, and advocacy towards the reform of law and policy.
RAPCAN seeks to appoint a Project Coordinator, based in Plumstead, Cape Town. S/he will be accountable to the Child Protection and Support Services Manger.
Responsibilities:
- Development, implementation and coordination of RAPCAN’s Healing project;
- Ensuring that RAPCAN’s standards in relation to service delivery are met;
- Oversight over the delivery of all services of the project, including direct services to children and families, training workshops and learning platforms for professionals and non-professionals;
- Liaison, and networking with other service providers;
- Contracting and overseeing external service providers, including partner organisations;
- Managing the activities of the project in accordance with the organisation’s procedures and in conjunction with the programme managers and other relevant roleplayers;
- Overseeing project budgeting, spending and financial reporting to the programme manager;
- Marketing the services of the project;
- Pursuing strategic alliances with other organisations as necessary;
- Coordinating and managing relationships with relevant roleplayers to ensure effective use of the project;
- Reporting to RAPCAN and other stakeholders on a regular basis.
Requirements:
- Qualification in project management, development studies, or other social sciences;
- Minimum of 3 years experience in project management, operations management and training;
- Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation skills;
- Good networking and communication skills;
- Ability to carry high workload and work under pressure;
- Commitment to working in the children’s rights arena;
- Sound specialist knowledge of children’s rights and child protection;
- High level of computer literacy;
- Willingness to travel;
- Driver's licence and own transport.
