Philimpilo Community Care enables healing and wholeness to families affected by HIV/AIDS in vulnerable communities through psychosocial care.

 

Job Description: 

Philimpilo seeks to appoint a Marketing Officer / PA, based in Johannesburg, to take ownership of the marketing portfolio, whilst providing administrative assistance to the Director and Operations Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Event coordination, liaison with donors, participants, venues and management of logistics;
  • Website content updates and registration on various NGO websites;
  • Profiling Philimpilo on social networking sites and the maintenance thereof;
  • Volunteer identification and management;
  • Newsletter content and distribution;
  • CI and brand coordination, and supplier and partner liaison;
  • Donor research and communication with community stakeholders (phone/sms/e-mail);
  • Finance administration and book keeping (training will be provided but basic book-keeping experience will be an advantage);
  • Filing, banking, document processing and correspondence management;
  • Database management, minute taking, and meeting coordination and scheduling;
  • Message taking and call management;
  • Collections and deliveries when required;
  • Typing of documentation and collation of information;
  • Other adhoc duties as delegated by the Operations Manager and Director;
  • Assistance in programme areas, e.g. Kwathema & Tsakane with coordination and administration of training and other activities when required.

Requirements:

  • A matric/grade 12 pass (proof required);
  • Strong administrative skills;
  • Marketing / fundraising / PR experience;
  • Competence in Microsoft Office;
  • Own transport (driver's licence a prerequisite-proof required);
  • Experience in the NGO sector/environment;
  • Any further studying/training after matric (proof required);
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and verbal communications skills;
  • Initiative, drive and enthusiasm;
  • Reliable with a good work ethic;
  • Time management skills in order to meet deadlines; ability to multi-task and work concurrently on a number of tasks efficiently;
  • Creativity; the ability to think outside of the box;
  • Pro-active; the ability to attempt to solve problems independently;
  • Detail orientated;
  • Confident and assertive when necessary;
  • Fluent in written and verbal English;
  • Ability to work across the cultural, gender and age spectrum;
  • Passionate about the non-profit sector and Philimpilo’s vision and mission;

  • Sense of humour essential.

Please note that this is not an entry level position and that marketing, PR or fundraising experience is essential.

Salary: Commensurate with experience and skills.

Interview process: Prospective candidates will be required to visit Philimpilo’s offices in Bryanston (near the Dimension Data Campus) for an initial interview. A second interview will be held with successful candidates who will be invited to undergo skills testing in order to ascertain competency (venue to be decided).

The successful candidate will initially be on a contract with the view to a possible permanent placement.
