To facilitate and manage the development, The Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund (NMCF) seeks to appoint Learning and Knowledge Manager, based in Johannesburg.

 

Job Description: 

The Learning and Knowledge Manager will be responsible for enabling NMCF to increase its effectiveness and capability to achieve its strategic objectives/ value propositions, as set out in Sakha Ikusasa III, through developing and managing organizational learning and knowledge development systems and processes.

The LK Manager will develop and support processes to improve organisational effectiveness, cultivate a culture of learning throughout the organisation and contribute to increasing productivity. S/he will do this through driving a Learning and Knowledge vision that focuses on creating, discovering, sharing and optimally using the learnings and knowledge of NMCF.


Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership for Building a Knowledge and Learning Culture in the Fund
  • Developing and Supporting Institutional Knowledge and Learning Systems
  • Identifying and Documenting Methodologies and Best Practices
  • Strengthening Organisational Effectiveness in Knowledge Development and Learning


Requirements:

  • BA Honours degree in social sciences, social development, human rights or equivalent
  • Minimum of 7 years of senior management experience working with international development, donor cooperation projects and/ or NGO environment in a development context
  • Extensive project and programme management experience particularly with multiple sectors in a development context
  • Experience in working with a diverse range of individuals/ organisations and providing strategic guidance and support
  • Experience in managing and analysing significant amounts of information from multiple sources to identify emerging trends and conduct knowledge extraction
  • Demonstrated experience in documentation, research, information packaging, disseminations and in conducting monitoring and evaluation, impact assessment and documentation of impact outcomes
  • Experience in developing case studies, methodological toolkits and in compiling strategic information for policy and/ or advocacy purposes
  • Experience in developing and writing strategic documentation/ briefs for executive level decision-making and influencing purposes
  • High level of strategic thinking, planning and conceptual abilities
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and in using multiple skills simultaneously
  • Understanding of management and operational processes
  • Strong organizational and planning skills indicative of an ability to develop and lead the implementation of a multi-faceted knowledge management strategy with supporting processes and systems
  • Understanding of knowledge processes and change management initiatives
  • Strong familiarity with knowledge management tools, approaches and information searching skills
  • Excellent organisation skills including ability to manage multiple tasks and projects and an ability to prioritise and work to deadlines
  • Effective people development skills and a strong ability to build consensus and facilitate group processes
  • Ability to support individual and collective learning
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • High level of competence in word processing, spreadsheets, office administration systems and electronic media


Salary: NMCF offers a competitive remuneration package, commensurate with experience. This is a senior level position within the organisation and qualifying/ shortlisted candidates may be required to undergo a competency assessment. The job is offered on a three-year contract.
