Muscular Dystrophy Foundation: Counsellor / Social Worker - Gauteng

Responsibilities:

• Provide counselling and support for affected members and families
• Perform administrative duties of a confidential nature in support of office activities
• Work closely with families and caregivers, and ensure that the basic rights of adults and children are met
• Facilitate support groups - organise support groups to address challenges faced by members with the focus on psycho-social activities
• Ensure efficient and smooth running of the shelter social work needs

Requirements:

• Qualified social worker registered with the South African Council of Social Work
• Valid code 8 manual driver’s licence with own transport
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Computer literacy in MS office
• High degree of initiative and responsibility
•  Fluent in English
• Knowledge of other South African languages and of the NGO sector would be an advantage

Salary: Will be in accordance with Department of Social Development standards.
