Muscular Dystrophy Foundation: Counsellor / Social Worker - Gauteng
The Muscular Dystrophy Foundation (MDF) Gauteng Branch seeks to appoint a Counsellor / Social Worker, based in Johannesburg.
Responsibilities:
- Provide counselling and support for affected members and families
- Perform administrative duties of a confidential nature in support of office activities
- Work closely with families and caregivers, and ensure that the basic rights of adults and children are met
- Facilitate support groups - organise support groups to address challenges faced by members with the focus on psycho-social activities
- Ensure efficient and smooth running of the shelter social work needs
Requirements:
- Qualified social worker registered with the South African Council of Social Work
- Valid code 8 manual driver’s licence with own transport
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Computer literacy in MS office
- High degree of initiative and responsibility
- Fluent in English
- Knowledge of other South African languages and of the NGO sector would be an advantage
Salary: Will be in accordance with Department of Social Development standards.
