Institute for Security Studies: Office Director

ISS seeks to appoint an Office Director, based in Nairobi, Kenya.

 

Job Description: 

S/he will provide overall management and oversight to the Nairobi office on all matters including programme delivery, financial and human resources management, general administration and fundraising. S/he will work in collaboration with a team of Project Leaders and staff members, provide oversight and support to project management, fundraising and donor relations, be responsible for the overall financial and administrative management of the office, ensure effective human resource management relating to staff performance, grievance and disciplinary matters, and manage a team of finance and administrative staff. The successful candidate will be responsible for building relations with national and regional stakeholders including governments and NGOs, and managing partnerships with stakeholders.

This is a senior management appointment within the Institute. The incumbent will report to the Executive Director of the ISS and sit on the Management Committee of the Institute.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in management, humanities, social sciences or law
  • Minimum of 10 years general management experience
  • Financial and human resource management skills
  • Communication, presentation and networking skills
  • Experience in fundraising
  • Experience in donor liaison

Starting date: 1 January 2012

Salary: A commensurate salary with ISS internal structure will be offered.
