Arising from the National Women's Summit in March 2007, the SANAC Women's Sector was convened to make comments on the National Strategic Plan on HIV/AIDs (Department of Health). The Plan is a national, multi-stakeholder plan to address HIV/AIDs in South Africa. At the Summit a group of women' sector representatives to the National AIDS Council were elected, and a reference group of women to support them was established. The Women's Sector continues to be involved in the implementation of the Plan, and also in SANAC structures.
