Positive Action for Treatment Access - Women Leadership and Mentorship Training

Positive Action for Treatment Access (PATA) is a non-governmental organization working to ensure that every individual has access to treatment education and every person with a disease condition can access qualitative, affordable, ethical and humane treatment which would empower them take charge of their health and lives.

PATA is embarking on a project to train and mentor women living with HIV to become HIV Treatment and Policy Advocates. The project objective is to increase the capacity of women living with HIV to participate in HIV Programming in Nigeria. To achieve the above, PATA calls for applications from Women Living with HIV to participate in a one year intensive training program.

The training program will include the following:

Three intensive on-site residential workshops
Three internship programs in participant’s community
Experiential learning in HIV treatment centers
Each fourteen day residential workshop will be followed by an internship period during which the women will be expected to volunteer in their communities as advocates and educators using skills they have acquired.

The training is open to Nigerian women living with HIV committed to developing their leadership and advocacy skills. The women must meet the following criteria:

Presently employed by, affiliated to or volunteering with a Community Based Organization or HIV Treatment center

Good command of spoken and written English
Willing to promote and commit to gender equity
Ability to meet deadlines, and work under pressure
Capacity to take initiative and work with minimal supervision

Women living with HIV in prominent organizational leadership positions are not eligible for this program.

NOTE: - This is not a job opening. PATA cannot provide employment for participants during or after the training period.
