About NGO Week 2010
From the 20th to 25th September 2010, The Popular Education Movement will host NGO Week 2010 as a way to create spaces for organisations to come together review and consider the options to build solidarity to fight poverty and inequality.

The concept of NGO Week 2010 is for it to be:

  • A collective learning experience for people active in the civil society sector
  • A collective learning activity which includes the active involvement of individuals, organisations, networks and movements
  • A people’s education activity to which participants bring their own experiences
  • The aim is to draw on people’s understandings and provide spaces for them to envisage options for the future they would want
  • A space where active participation as an approach to learning, encourages people to develop their own ideas, reflecting their own social and political interests
  • Help people think further and to act more effectively
  • Allow many more voices to be heard and are also more democratic than are the largely passive events many of us have experienced
  • Aims to deepen social consciousness and strengthen organisations
  • We hope to make those aims come alive during NGO Week.
