Gender and Media Literacy

Back by popular demand, Gender Links and the Gender and Media Diversity Centre (GMDC) will be running another session of the Gender and Media Literacy course for members of the general public from 2 October to 10 December 2008. Learning gained will be applied during the Sixteen Days of Activism on Gender Violence from 25 November to 10 December 2008.

The course is open to any members of the public who are interested in being media literate or who work regularly with media and communications. The minimum requirement is Standard 7/Grade 9 education. Certificates of participation will be issued upon successful completion of the course.

There is no course fee but participants will be required to participate in at least eight of the ten modules (a total of 36 hours) and to complete the final assignment. Training will be held at the Gender Links offices in Cyrildene, Johannesburg on Thursdays from 17h00 to 19h00 and on one Saturday during the course period.
