DDP: Personal Leadership and Mastery Workshop
The Democracy Development Programme (DDP) was initiated in 1993 as a partner project of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation of Germany. For the last 16 years it has been a non-partisan NGO, supporting capacity building on governance and civil society levels to ensure that both are empowered for meaningful participation in South Africa’s social transformation.
Objective
To engage leaders of non-profit organisations in an intensive exploration of personal leadership that should enable them to lead their organisations more authentically and with a clear vision.
The workshop will focus on:
• Understanding the principles of values based leadership
• Understanding yourself as a leader in your context
• Working effectively with your team/organisation
• Creating and maintaining an effective vision
• Acquiring specific skills that will enable you to grow and learn as a leader
Who should attend?
Leaders of community based organisations, school governing bodies, community policing forums, leaders of non government organisations, religious forums and any other organisation that is working within a community. This is an equal opportunity workshop and applications will be judged on the motivation.
Costs
The facilitation and day workshop cost will be covered by the DDP. Accommodation costs will be paid for by the participant’s organisation. Please note that the workshop will be restricted to a maximum of 25 participants and people will be accepted on a first come first served basis.
DDP will cover the following costs:
• All meals
• Materials and facilitation costs
DDP will not cover:
• Accommodation for two nights at the venue @ R2460.00 (This will have to be paid via the DDP office - an invoice will be emailed to you)
• Travel costs to the venue
• Any other costs that you might incur outside of the workshop (room service, drinks, etc)

Download the application and contract from the DDP website (www.ddp.org.za) and submit it via fax 031 3062261 or email (manjum [at] ddpdurban [dot] org [dot] za) to Manju Marimuthu at DDP on or before Friday the 30 April 2010.
Additional requirements:
Please note that only applicants that hold leadership positions within their organisations will be considered. All application forms must be accompanied by letter from the organisation being represented and should clearly stipulate the applicant’s current position within the organisation and provide a motivation to be registered. All registered delegates will be required to sign a contract of commitment.
The facilitators:
The workshop will be facilitated by Dr Rama Naidu and Ms Anita Simon.
Dr Rama Naidu is an Organisation Development Practitioner who has worked in the field of Personal leadership and team dynamics for the past 16 years in South Africa and internationally. He is also the current Director of the Democracy Development Programme.
Ms. Anita Simon has lived her life in the service of communication and cooperation with people from many different cultures. She has 20 years of leadership experience from the Norwegian public sector as well as from international NGOs in Angola. At present she works internationally as a Development practitioner, trainer and life coach and works in Norway, South Africa and Portuguese speaking Africa.
Both facilitators share a passion for personal development and for supporting others to attain their vision, goals and possibilities. Each individual’s change creates ripples in the pond of humanity. Yes, the goal IS to change the world, one room, one conversation at a time contributing to the consolidation of a better future for all South Africans, and indeed for all of humanity.
