Accredited Distance Community Development Certificate
The Certificate in Community Development is an accredited part time programme that affords those interested in working in this sector, or currently employed in the sector, the opportunity to build and enhance their knowledge and skills in order to implement more effective development strategies.
This programme includes modules such as Leadership in Development Projects, Monitoring and Evaluation, Community & Resource Mobilisation (which includes project management and fundraising), Organisational Management, Conflict and Negotiation skills, among many others and includes a strong practical component. The latter is ideal for Community Development Practitioners seeking to integrate theory with the practice of their everyday work.
This programme is fully accredited by the Department of Education as a 126 credit Certificate on NQF 5 level and is spread over a two year period. It is largely distance e-learning, but also provides the opportunity for 2 contact ‘block’ weeks on site per year at Cornerstone Institute in Cape Town.
The Cornerstone Institute is registered with the Department of Education as a private higher education institution under the Higher Education Act, 1997 (Registration Certificate No. 2001/HE 08/006).
