SABC Education Careers Fair, featuring the CET24 Movie

The SABC Education Careers Fair provides an excellent opportunity for the youth of today to question their choices and explore options. Not all information is applicable to all grades, so a system was introduced that colour coded every learner according to grade. Exhibitors can identify which grade the learner is studying and so hand them the appropriate information.

Women gather at International Colloquium in Liberia to Advance Women's Leadership Worldwide

The International Colloquium on Women's Empowerment, Leadership Development, International Peace and Security, co-convened by President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf of Liberia and President Tarja Halonen of Finland, will take place 7-8 March, 2009 in Monrovia, Liberia.   It is expected to bring together some 800 participants reflecting a cross section of society nationally and internationally including current and former heads of state, high-level government officials, market women from Liberia, youth, academics, NGOS and representatives from intergovernmental organizations.
 

International Women's Day

The Bureau of Women's Affairs will have a special church service to commemorate IWD and launch the Bureau's 35th anniversary on Sunday March 8 at 8:00 am at the Eastwood Park New Testament Church, 48-51 Eastwood Park Road, Kingston.

.Women's Media Watch (WMW) will honour women trailblazers at the Hilton Hotel this Tuesday March 3 at 6:00 pm. The group will be paying tribute to women who have broken the "glass ceiling"; women who have played integral roles in building the community and nation; and women who have fought for gender equality in various spheres.

Transgender People in SA Speak Out in Groundbreaking New DVD

This weekend sees the launch of ‘TRANSformations' a groundbreaking DVD of short digital stories created by transgender and gender non-conforming people in South Africa. The DVD explores the lives and experiences of the participants and their resilience in the face of considerable adversity. The launch takes place on Saturday, 28 February from 19h00 and is being held at popular venue, Zietsies, in Auckland Park, Johannesburg. The project is a collaboration between Gender DynamiX, Women'sNet and Gay and Lesbian Memory in Action (GALA).
