About
Us
This project
is coordinated by the British
Council South Africa in partnership with the University of the North
(Limpopo Province), University of Fort Hare (Eastern Cape) and Crisp (KwaZulu
Natal). The project is a provincial initiative to respond to violence
against girls and young women through, among other initiatives, the development
of this database of service providers, resources and research.
Women'sNet
was contracted by the British Council to assist in the collection of data,
design the website and design and populate the database. We have used
Action Applications software.
Structure
of the Database
Information
on the database is divided into three main sections:
- Service
providers: providing a service to either organisations and the non-profit
sector and/or to girls and youth directly
- Financial
Resources: providers of financial assistance to civil society organisations
- Research:
published research on girls and young women and related to gender violence
These sections
are linked from icons at the top of this page. For the purposes of this
project, we define girls and young women as being between the ages of
6 to 18.
