Women and Health doesnt always have to be about HIV/AIDS or Cancer

 

Recently most women get info about sexual health including HIV/AIDS or Cancer, and  but honestly these is more that meet the eye to women's health other than that.

We also suffer from high blood pressure, stress, bulimia, anorexia, ect though the media keeps throwing us with info on HIV & AIDS more than anything else making us the sole high alert statistics whereas our male counter parts are also involved in any sexual activity we get ourselves in. Dnt get me wrong, yes! we ought to take responsibility and practice safe sex or abstain as a choice.

Let me tell you, I am absolutely floored. With all the hype and media attention going on and on about Women’s and children’s rights, our country is no more educated or equipped to deal with these issues.

Let me tell you, I am absolutely floored. With all the hype and media attention going on and on about Women’s and children’s rights, our country is no more educated or equipped to deal with these issues. I am a single mother of two children. Last week on the 14th April 2010, my maintenance was DECREASED, yes I do mean decreased from R2000.00 to R250.00, by our judicial system, a WOMAN judge to top it all.

Women have to face a lot of unavoidable and irresistible constraints at workplace. Some of their choices have not come without disappointment. She is a Woman! Distinctions are always made between male candidates and female candidates at workplace. The first thing one notices about a woman employee is that ’she is a woman’. They do not even think about her position and qualification. In general, people do not respect the abilities and talents in women. It takes a long time for them to succeed and get promoted. Nobody makes a single effort to understand who she really is as a person.

The event was the last in the 16 Days of Activism campaign. Felicia Boqwana, a counsellor with Masimanyane, said Newlands was chosen as a venue as many of the organisation’s clients are based in this area.
