Welcome to all the Girls'Netters out there to the 16 Days Campaign 2008!! Having a phone and access to the internet makes it both useful & fun! It gives me the opportunity to chat with friends, loved ones and anyone across the world! Being able to do this on my own terms makes me feel in control and independent.... And that I can be ME! Being able to sms or chat means to me that I can express my feelings in a variety of ways....pics. videos, emoticons ;) etc. what does it mean to you to have your own phone/ computer? Faith

Rape Cases through the Justice System Process

Heard about the launch of a GROUND_ BREAKING study on rape cases? The name of the study is "Tracking Justice: The Attrition of Rape Cases through the Criminal Justice System in Gauteng". The study was a collaboration between Tshwaranang, MRC and the CSVR. It offers some possibilities to how and why rape cases in Gauteng are funneled down through the Criminal Justice System: from when they are reported, through to investigation, down to the courts and finally conviction.

The Female Condom around for over a decade

The 10 & 11th of September Dialogues on the "Universal Access To Female Condom... A Human Rights Issue" took place. The event was successfully hosted by the Thohoyandou Victim Empowerment Programme or the TVEP (www.ahumanrightsissue.blogspot.com) and attended by many organisations and political affiliates, however with little key Government representation. During the sessions, presentations were given on studies reporting on how the female condom is an effective prevention method against STIs and HIV/AIDS.

Women's Day at Sci- Bono

WOW! Here I am employed at Womens'Net for my 1st week and .... working.... on a Saturday: the 09th of August! Sci- Bono (www.sci-bono.co.za) is a math, science & technology discovery centre, reportedly the biggest of its kind in Africa. It held a "Women's Day" programme for school girls to interact with women experts from various science fields in math, biology, physical science & technology.
