SADC-Wide Workshop: Building Support and Awareness for the use of Free and Open Source Software Solutions (FOSS) in Women's Organisations

Participants worked in Groups under the guidance of Rudy van Staden from Ungana-Afrika to produce their own Technology Plans. Read about them here!

 


Group Title: FemDev
FemDev, an institution created to narrow the women digital divide through equipping women with FOSS technical and applications skills, will train women through training of trainers programme. The training methodology takes a two prong approach by training women at :
technical level;
end-users level.
We will train 100 trainers a month at a rate of 25 trainers per month drawn from all over Africa.

Group Title: AidsNet
AidsNet is a woman NGO whose mandate is to mitigate the impact of HIV and AIDS on orphans and vulnerable children(OVC).Most OVC's have had to stop school in order to take over the responsibility of heading the households.Most often they do not have an income to sustain these families and sometimes relatives desert them .They are disadvantaged because they lose out on their education and society alinates them as they are considered as burdens.AidsNet through the use of ICT's will assist OVC's continue their education and facilitate sustained income generation .AidsNet also offer s access to resources and information on HIV and AIDS that will help to prevent infection and to cope with siblings who may be positive. more>>
